The Annual General Meeting will be held on 22 May 2024 at 11.30 at the Tugun Community Hall.
All positions on the Management Committee will be vacated and members are invited to nominate for a position. Nominations forms (including Life Membership) are available to download here. Our committee and volunteers got to know each other at a get together at the Palm Beach Currumbin Sports Club on 9 April.
Thank you to our volunteers and committee, past present and future. Without you our U3A could not exist. Classes start on Monday 5 February so if you still haven’t renewed your membership or enrolled in classes now is the time to do it. Some classes are already full and others are filling fast.
To help you select your classes we invite all new and renewing members to come along to our information days on Wednesday 24th and Tuesday 30th January from 9:00am to midday at 4 Boyd Street Tugun. The information days will provide an opportunity to meet and talk with your tutors and provide help with renewing your membership. We look forward to seeing you at classes in 2024! PRESIDENT’S MESSAGEI am looking forward to another year of events and challenges, companionship, thought-provoking discussion, intellectual stimulation, physical activity, skills tutoring and friendship. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our volunteers who donate their enthusiasm, time, knowledge, skills and talent.
Our Dance Like No-one Is Watching class is currently taking a well earned break. Classes will resume on 26 September at the new time slot of 11am - 12noon on Tuesdays at St Monica's Church Hall, 485 Golden Four Drive, Tugun. St Monica's Church Hall is a lovely airy venue with great off street parking. We are very pleased to advise that the popular Griffith University lectures are back! The dates for 2023 are Friday, 28th July and Friday, 27th October. Did you know that U3A Southern Gold Coast operates entirely through the efforts of dedicated volunteers. These volunteers give up their time so we can provide classes and activities for our members. No-one gets paid. Volunteers are, however, human. They have families, and interests and commitments outside U3A. Please don’t take advantage of their generosity. If jobs are shared among many we all benefit. Read the newsletter in your browser HERE or download the printable PDF.
Read our President's message, a life member's story, new classes and diarise the upcoming events for 2023. Join us for a matinee performance of Jukebox on Saturday, 18 March at 2pm at the Tweed Heads Civic Centre Auditorium. Come by yourself, bring a friend or make up a table of six.
Discounted tickets ($12 each) are available between 9am and midday (Monday to Friday) at the U3A Office at the Kirra Hill Community Centre, 1 Garrick Street, Coolangatta. Tel: 07 5534 7333. |
