U3A Southern Gold Coast
The University of the 3rd Age (U3A) began in France in 1973 to provide positive stimulation to people in the third age of their lives by providing programmes of learning. These may be academic, cultural or recreational.
The U3A has spread to over 30 countries and in Australia, there are more than 250 U3As. In Queensland we are part of a network of around 35 U3As with 23,000 members.
U3A is a voluntary organisation and in Australia classes and activities are run by members willing to share their knowledge with others. Programmes are designed to promote active ageing through lifelong learning, physical activity and social engagement.
At U3A Southern Gold Coast we offer an interesting and varied programme to members from the southern Gold Coast and northern Tweed areas. Our motto is Learning and Friendship and our extensive programme includes art and craft, languages, literature, games, music, information technology, general information, physical activities and inner health.
